Service Tip of the Month:
Battery maintenance is often overlooked until the batteries are dead. Every time a battery is discharged too low it loses a certain percentage of it's usable life. It may charge back up, but it won't last as long. Low voltage can also cause all sorts of problems not normally associated with a battery problem . Most of today's RV appliances have electronic circuits to power the controls, LP flame igniters, etc. If the voltage gets below 10.5- 11 volts, these appliances won't function. Usually customers will say the appliance is at fault , when really it's the battery, or charging system. Be sure to check the water level in deep cycle batteries and add distilled water. The House or Auxiliary batteries are not normally maintenance free like the Chassis battery. Charge the batteries once a month if the unit is not used on a regular basis , the batteries will give much better service.
